Mental Health Matters Committee Meeting

The Mental Health Matters Committee is looking for your input on local policy matters, including those pertaining to the Millage Advisory Committee, our new contract with Community Mental Health, and the Ann Arbor Citizens’ Committee for Mental Health and Public Safety, among others. If you are interested in outreach, education, and advocacy opportunities, please join us.

Friends and Family Support Group

Caring for someone with a serious mental health condition can feel lonely and dispiriting. Adults who have a friend or family member with a mental health condition are invited to attend this new group, which will provide participants with a community of support where ideas and strategies can be shared. The group meets every fourth Monday of the month. Each month will feature a specific topic based on the group’s interests and suggestions on self-care. NAMI Faith Group

NAMI Faith Group combines scripture lessons, educational topics and a sharing time to promote support and spirituality in mental health. We believe that a person’s faith can play a positive role in their mental health experience. The group is open to adults living with mental health challenges and to anyone who wants to learn how to better support those living with a condition. There is no fee or registration required. Attendance is on a drop-in basis and each meeting will have a new lesson. NAMI Faith Group is inclusive and welcomes all religions and all people. For information call 734-429-4730.

Parents Together

Ongoing support group for parents or guardians of children who are currently exhibiting, or who have exhibited in the recent past, suicidal thoughts or behaviors. This free support group is led by trained NAMI volunteers and is a collaborative effort with several health organizations in Washtenaw County. The group meets on first Mondays of the month. Drop-ins are welcome and no registration is required.

Ten Thousand Villages Shopping Event

Holiday shoppers who make purchases at this local nonprofit — whose mission is to provide vital, fair income to craftspeople in the developing world — can help our NAMI affiliate at the same time. At the time of purchase, mention NAMI Washtenaw County, and the store will donate 15% of the sale to NAMI WC. Hours: Su, 12-6; M-Th, 10-8; F&Sa, 10-10.

Family-to-Family
Spring classes will begin in March 2020. Ann Arbor classes start on Tuesday, Mar. 10, and Wednesday, Mar. 11. A Chelsea class starts on Thursday, Mar. 12.
