Chelsea School District – safeTalk Training
January 20, 2020 @ 7:30 am - 11:00 am
safeTalk Training – safeTALK is a training that prepares anyone age 15 and over to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. Most people with thoughts of suicide invite help to stay safe. Alert helpers know how to use these opportunities to support that desire for safety. As a safeTALK trained alert helper, you will be better able to:
- Move beyond common tendencies to miss, dismiss or avoid suicide;
- Identify people who have thoughts of suicide;
- Apply the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe) to connect a person with suicide thoughts to suicide first aid, intervention caregivers
safeTalk Training is applicable to all and will be facilitated by professional staff from the UM Depression Center.
We have 15 slots that are first come, first serve on this day. If you are interested in attending, please email Heather Conklin at firstname.lastname@example.org by noon on Monday, January 13.
