There’s new wind in the sails of NAMI WC’s Fundraising Committee, whose first big event, a “Lifesavers Gala,” will be held at Portage Yacht Club the evening of Sunday, May 6.
“May is mental health month,” said Alison Paine, chair of the committee, “and for this first event we thought we’d go with the theme of suicide prevention and saving people’s lives.”
It will be a posh affair, she added, with hot and cold appetizers, live entertainment, boat rides, raffle prizes, and more. Tickets will cost $100 apiece, the goal being to have 100 guests.
Driving this effort is NAMI WC’s need to fund its many programs, which are volunteer led but incur expenses for course materials, food, and other components. A second fundraiser is being planned for the summer.
