Now is the time to enroll in the Peer-to-Peer and Family-to-Family classes beginning in September. Peer-to-Peer will be offered in Ypsilanti and Chelsea. NAMI Michigan is sponsoring a NAMI Signature Training Weekend August 10–12, 2018, at the Detroit Marriott in Livonia. Twelve new volunteers will be trained to facilitate Family-to-Family, NAMI’s class for people living in support of family members who live with mental illness. Go, team!
NAMI Washtenaw is looking for volunteers for the Mental Health Treatment Court, which meets on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. This involves attending court sessions at the downtown courthouse and sharing information about NAMI with court participants and the significant others who accompany them. Citizens for Mental Health & Public Safety has launched a website to advocate for mental health and public safety in Washtenaw County. The new website calls for all funds obtained through the County Mental Health and Public Safety Millage passed in November 2017 to be spent on mental health and public safety services (rather than on climate change actions).
